Hi, I'm Sue — and I've spent most of my career making things work better.

Before The VA Effect I spent years in operations and management — leading teams at Panasonic, managing outpatient services at Spire Private Hospital, and running the day to day at Brainbox Ltd for eight years. Different industries, different businesses, same challenge every time — how do you make the operations work properly so the people at the front can do their best work?

I got pretty good at answering that question.

In 2019 my manager at Brainbox asked me where I saw myself in five years. It was meant to be a routine conversation. It wasn't. Because for the first time I didn't just think about where I wanted to work — I thought about where I wanted to live.

That question started everything.

I set up The VA Effect, went remote, and in 2022 I moved to Cyprus. Best decision I ever made.

Since then I've worked behind the scenes of some brilliant small businesses — and I've seen the same thing come up time and time again. The business grows, the owner gets busier, and the back-end quietly starts to fall apart. Processes that used to work stop working. Things start living in people's heads instead of in systems. And the owner — who built something genuinely good — ends up spending their evenings doing admin instead of living their life.

That's the thing I fix.

Not just patch up. Actually fix. I come in, find out what's really going on, and build systems that are smoother, leaner and smarter to use. The kind that keep working long after I've finished building them.

I work with a small number of clients at a time — which means you get my full attention, not a slice of it.
